Post Specification:

The Department invites applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor positions, which will start from the academic year 2024-2025. The Department anticipates that there will be multiple positions. Appointment at the level of Assistant Professor is expected but a more senior appointment will be considered for candidates with exceptional qualifications.

Applicants in all areas of physics currently being pursued in the department are welcome to apply, with priorities given to the following fields: 

– Theoretical quantum optics;

– Theoretical quantum information science;

– Theoretical biophysics.

Applicants should (i) have a relevant PhD degree with postdoctoral research experience; (ii) demonstrate a track record of research accomplishments, potential for establishing a significant externally funded research programme; and (iii) have a strong interest in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Appointments will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation.

The Hong Kong Institute of Quantum Information Science and Technology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong invites applications for Research Assistant Professor position in the following directions.

  • Experimental diamond-based sensing. The applicants are expected to have experience in at least one of the following fields – quantum sensing, nanomagnetism, AFM, STM, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, condensed matter physics, bio-imaging and light-sheet microscopy.
  • Theory of quantum correlation spectroscopy, with applications to quantum sensing, detection of quantum many-body physics, and/or the test of quantum foundation.
  • Quantum many-body theory and numerical simulation of open quantum systems and applications in quantum information science.
  • Theoretical quantum optics focusing on superradiance laser/maser, Floquet laser/maser, and the effects of many-body correlations.

The Department of Physics invites applications for the position of Research Assistant Professorship, starting as soon as possible. Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in physics; and (ii) research experience in areas in physics currently being pursued in the department, including:

  • Astrophysics and Cosmology;

  • Biophysics and Soft Matter Physics;

Post Specification:

The Department of Physics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor position in astronomy within any of the following directions:

  • Astronomical Instrumentation
  • Astrophysics of the Interstellar Medium
  • Integral Field Spectroscopy Survey Development and Data Mining

The Department has a diverse research portfolio including several faculty members working in the field of astrophysics. In particular, we are actively developing the AMASE instrument and survey (Yan et al. 2020), which will provide high spectral resolution integral field spectroscopy for the study of the ISM in the Milky Way and nearby galaxies. Successful candidates should be able to contribute to the development of the instrument or the survey, and/or take advantage of the data produced.

 The appointee should demonstrate a strong record of research accomplishments and potential for establishing significant externally funded research programmes, and will be expected to undertake light teaching duties at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

 Competitive salary will be provided that is commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience. Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years, renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement.
