Post Specification:
The Department of Physics invites applications for the position of Research Assistant Professorship, starting as soon as possible. Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in physics; and (ii) research experience in areas in physics currently being pursued in the department, including:
- Astrophysics and Cosmology;
- Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics;
- Biophysics and Soft Matter Physics;
- Complex systems and Fluids
- Condensed Matter Physics;
- Materials Science;
- Quantum Information Science and Technology
- Particle physics.
The appointees should demonstrate a strong record of research accomplishments and potential for establishing significant externally funded research programmes, and are expected to undertake light teaching duties at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He/She will work closely with faculty members in the Department to enhance the existing strengths. Information about relevant research in the Department can be found at http://www.phy.cuhk.edu.hk.
Appointments will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years, renewable subject to mutual agreement. Applications will be accepted until the posts are filled.

Post Title: Technician
Department / Unit: Department of Physics

The appointee will be responsible for (a) organizing and maintaining teaching laboratories at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; (b) assisting in designing/improving experiments; (c) liaising and co-ordinating activities for promoting science programs; and (d) basic laboratory management, such as equipment inventory records and laboratory safety, etc.
Applicants should have (a) a Bachelor degree or above in Physics or related disciplines; (b) at least 2 years’ work experience in research/industrial/teaching laboratories; (c) self-motivation, and a responsible and hard-working attitude; (d) the ability to work independently in a multi-disciplinary environment; (e) a good command of spoken and written Chinese and English; and (f) solid knowledge on scientific instrumentation, electronics, computer hardware and software, and programming. Having teaching experience and strong hands-on ability will be advantageous.
Appointment will be made on contract basis for up to 2 years (with contract-end gratuity for a 2-year contract), renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
