Hong Kong Observatory Placement Programme

What is it?

This internship program is designed for CU Physics undergraduates to work as full-time student trainees in the Hong Kong Observatory in Jan-Dec (12 months).

Who are eligible to apply?

If you are a PHY undergraduate, you are eligible to apply. You should also have a good academic record and are interested in various areas of meteorology, for example, numerical weather forecast. We look for motivated students who have a solid physics background, who are independent, creative, and can get along well with others.

How about stipend?

Successful applicants will work on project for 12 months normally and will receive a scholarship at a rate of HK$9,600 per month.

Schedule

  • Mid September : Briefing
  • Late September : Deadline of application
  • October : Interview with applicants by the Hong Kong Observatory
  • January – December : Work at the Hong Kong Observatory

Partcipants’ responsibilities

  1. To comply with and complete any jobs as assigned by supervisors in the HKO.
  2. Each participant is required to give both an oral and a written report at the end of each semester.
